Don't Fall for It...
If you're expecting your first baby, you might be wondering what you actually need to do before booking newborn photos. Do you need a bunch of cute outfits? Does your baby need to be on a perfect schedule? What if your baby won't sleep?
The good news is that you don't have to have everything figured out before your newborn session.
As a newborn photographer serving Manor, TX, Austin, and the surrounding areas, I see parents stress about these things all the time. So here are three things you don't need to worry about.
1. You Don't Need to Buy a Bunch of Newborn Outfits
It's tempting to fill your cart with tiny newborn outfits when you're preparing for your baby, but you really don't need a huge wardrobe just for photos.
Simple outfits, neutral colors, wraps, and those sweet little baby details can create beautiful images without needing a different outfit for every setup.
At my Manor studio, I also provide simple wraps and props for newborn sessions, so you don't have to show up with a suitcase full of stuff.
If you have a special outfit, blanket, or sentimental item you'd like to include, absolutely bring it! We can always work it into the session.
2. You Don't Need to Have Baby on a Perfect Schedule
Newborns don't exactly follow a schedule, and that's okay.
Your baby might need to eat halfway through the session. They might need a diaper change. They might decide they don't want to sleep anymore.
That's all completely normal.
Newborn photography isn't about forcing your baby into a perfect routine for two hours. We take breaks when baby needs them and work around feeding, changing, soothing, and cuddling.
If baby needs you, we stop. Simple as that.
3. You Don't Need to Wait Until Baby Is Sleeping
You've probably seen lots of newborn photos where the baby is peacefully asleep, but your baby doesn't have to be sleeping for us to get beautiful photos.
Wide-awake photos can capture some of the sweetest little expressions, stretches, eye contact, and personality.
And some of my favorite images aren't just of baby alone. They're the photos of baby being held by Mom or Dad, tiny fingers wrapped around yours, or those first little moments of connection.
So if your baby refuses to sleep during their entire session, don't panic.
We'll still make beautiful photos.
Your Newborn Session Doesn't Have to Be Stressful
You don't need the perfect baby, the perfect schedule, or a closet full of newborn outfits.
You just need to bring your baby.
I'll take care of the photography, the setups, the wraps, and helping you through the session. My goal is to make your newborn session as relaxed as possible while creating photos you'll actually want to keep.
If you're looking for a Manor newborn photographer for your little one, I'd love to help you plan your session.
